What is ACIR?
ACIR is a register of accredited courses offered by Australian Universities, TAFE institutes and Registered Training Organisations managed by Hobsons.
What courses are included on ACIR?
A course must be:
- an accredited course accredited by an Australian University or Registered Higher Education Provider OR
- an accredited course or unit of competency accredited by an Australian state or territory accreditation body, as listed on the National Training Information Service (NTIS) web site OR
- a foundation program preparing students for university entrance OR
- a bridging program in a specific subject preparing students for university studies OR
- an English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) preparing overseas students for further university or TAFE studies
AND
- available for entry by the general public.
What courses are NOT included on ACIR?
- Non-award or non-accredited courses except for those preparatory courses listed above
- Courses which are enterprise only, i.e. only available to employees of a specific company
- Doctor degrees by research. Note that doctor degrees by coursework are included, as are master degrees by research.
- Honours degrees unless there is no related pass degree.
- Masters Preliminary courses
- Exit-point only courses, ie courses in which you can not enrol, although you may receive a lesser qualification if you complete only part of the course.
